How do I open a new account?

You can open a new account by calling us or at branch near you. You can reach us at 1-800-944-BANK(2265) or find a branch near you.

When will I receive my ATM/Debit Card?

You should recieve your card(s) within 7-10 business days. If you don't receive it after 10 business days, please contact a branch representative at 1-800-944-2265.

Do you charge non-sufficient fund (NSF) fees?

No, Sterling Bank & Trust no longer charges NSF fees.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Due to the confidential nature, we cannot disclose any information about qualifying accounts opened by the friends you invite. The completed Referral Form serves as a one-time waiver of privacy rights as each party may be aware that the other is a Sterling Bank & Trust, FSB customer by participating in the Refer-a-Friend program.

*Bonus/Account Information: Referral form must be submitted at the time of account opening. Referral bonus offer is available to eligible personal account holders approximately 120 days after account opening.

For the current customer (referrer) to receive the $50 Refer-A-Friend bonus: 1) Refer your friends to open a Sterling Eagle Checking Account with qualifying activities using the referral form. For the referring customer to receive the referral bonus, the referred candidate must: a) Be new Sterling customer; b) Open a qualifying Eagle Checking Account with a minimum opening balance of $500; c) The referred candidates account must remain open for 120 days.

For the referred candidate to receive the $250 Refer-A-Friend bonus: 1) Referred candidate must be a new Sterling customer and open a qualifying Sterling Eagle Checking Account; 2) Must have a $500 minimum opening deposit and must maintain a $500 balance to avoid fees; 3) Referred candidate must have a minimum of 2 reoccurring $500 direct deposits made to their new Eagle Checking Account within 120 calendar days of account opening. Direct deposits must be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension, or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Person to person payments (such as Zelle), transfers from one account to another, mobile deposits, deposits made at a branch, or ATM does not qualify as a direct deposit. Cannot be automatic transfers from a Sterling savings, money market or other deposit account(s); 4) Must also enroll in Sterling online banking to qualify.

Once the offer criterion is met, the bonus will be credited into the new personal checking account and the referring customer’s personal account no later than 130 days from the new account opening date. Accounts must remain open, active, and in good standing in order to receive the bonus. If the checking account is closed by the customer or Sterling Bank within 6 months after account opening, Sterling Bank does reserve the right to deduct the bonus amount from that account at closing. Sterling Bank may issue bonus recipients an IRS Form 1099-MISC, or other appropriate forms reporting the value of the bonus. The recipient is responsible for any applicable taxes and consulting a tax advisor. IRA savings accounts are not eligible. The offer may be withdrawn at any time and is subject to change without notice. Sterling Bank & Trust, FSB employees and board members are not eligible for the Refer-A-Friend program.

Eagle Checking Account. 0.40% Annual Percentage Yield (APY). APY is effective as of 09/23/2024 and is subject to change without notice. APY may vary between states due to market conditions. Rates are compounded daily and credited monthly on the entire balance in the account. No minimum balance to earn APY. Fees may reduce earnings. Other restrictions may apply.
